Would the world be better without religion? – Richard Dawkins claims: “Yes!”. But who is this guy? The British professor in his sixties is famous for defending Darwinism and theory of evolution. In 2006 he published his book The God Delusion.
His statement is: I don’t say, there’s absolutely surely no God, but if you make an rational decision, you have to see that everything points to an atheistic evolution. Only religion makes good people doing bad things.
Is there no reason left to believe in a God who we and all living beings owe our life? As always, every human has to make his own decision. If Dawkins is right, there’ really no more need for any beliefs or religion, except in order to see how people make the most barbarously things ever happened.
"Without [religion], you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes religion."
(Richard Dawkins)
But for some other scientists and researchers, there are some circumstantial evidences that there must be more than just random occurrences that led to existence of life.
Dawkins counters with his theory of the so called “egoistic gene”. This implies that every being does everything only because of self interest.
So, there are some questions and facts, on which believers cudgel their brains. Why is there so much cruelness in nature when a loving God created everything? Why are there death structures to keep the balance of nature? Some animals seem to be “created” for hunting and killing. In many people’s mind this is an indicator for an atheistic evolution. Others have some explanatory models for this topic (cf. gashing degeneration of the plenarily, perfect creation).
Many scientists think there’s a way in between this very different mindedness, cf. a kind of theistic evolution or one-time creation of basic types whereof everything else would descend, since nature would show God’s hand writing.
It’s worth to enter this topic because a lot of people claim it as “most important questions of life” - even if you would maybe just see that it is not.
